B. Truman Ratliff Obituary

B. Truman Ratliff, a lawyer who practiced law in Delta County, Texas for 53 years died on December 12, 2012 at the age of 90. In 2000 for health reasons, he moved to Presbyterian Village North in Dallas but considered his legal residence to be Cooper, Texas for his entire life. He was the son of W.C. Ratliff & Lucille Neilson Ratliff. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1940 and while there composed the school song. He had two degrees from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M in Commerce), and also attended Texas A&M and Baylor University. He was admitted to practice law in 1947 and following his service in Europe in World War II, he practiced law with his father, W.C. Ratliff and his brother, S.C. Ratliff. He seved as County Attorney of Delta County for twelve years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cooper. Truman is survied by his sister, Lucile Foster of Dallas, his brother, Samuel C. Ratliff of The Woodlands and nephews and nieces, Brad Ratliff,James Ratliff,Marilyn Foster Lookadoo, and Nancy Foster Martin. Graveside services for Mr. Ratliff will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, December 15 on his families burial site in Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper.
