Pastor Bernard T. Antonis, Jr, 80, of Cooper, Texas passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Parkside Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas, a visitation will be from 10:30 – 11:00 prior to the services.  Pastor Michael Wells will be officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, Cooper, Texas.

A visitation at Delta Funeral Home, Cooper, Texas, will be on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 6 – 8 p.m.

Pastor Antonis was born on April 6, 1944, to Bernard T. and Marion J. “Walsh” Antonis Sr. in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They precede him in death as well as a sister, Linda McDonald, and son in law, John Michael Pease.

He served his country in the United States Marines.  He married Carolyn Gaudet on July 6, 1961, in Lowell, Massachusetts, they were married for 61 years.

Pastor Antonis graduated from Baptist Bible College East in Boston, Massachusetts May 9, 1985. He pastored churches in Maine, Florida and Massachusetts before moving to Cooper, Texas in 2012. He has had his weekly Sermons published in the Cooper Review newspaper since 2013. He was saved on June 22, 1974. He asked Christ to save him and then dedicated his life to serve Christ in the Gospel Preaching Baptist Churches, in communities, and on television in Holbrook, Massachusetts for 9 years, Maine 13 years and Florida. He has authored many Gospel Tracts and written a book, “Good News.” He was a man of the Word of God and with great integrity.  He started and pastored the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Cooper, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Antonis; son, Bernard Antonis III and wife, Sharon, of Dudley, North Carolina; daughter, Carolyn Pease, of Mount Olive, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; sister, Cathy Henderson and husband, Linwood, of Garland, Texas and a brother, Gus Antonis, of New Vineyard, Maine; sister, Nina Stiles of Bristol, New Hampshire.
