Betty Frances Rittenberry, 91, of Pecan Gap, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 24th, at the First Baptist Church in Ladonia with Brother Ronnie Hickey officiating. Interment will follow in the Ladonia Cemetery under the direction of the Delta Funeral Home of Cooper. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday the 23rd at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rittenberry was born in Manchester on April 19, 1930, the daughter of Vernon Lee Scarborough and Sarah Lillian (Hamlin) Scarborough. She married Earnest Eugene (Gene) Rittenberry on Feb. 14, 1947. She and her husband had owned and operated a home decorating and drapery business before retiring. She was also a homemaker and a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She loved gardening, and she loved to cook! But she loved Jesus and her family most of all!!
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a son, David Eugene Rittenberry, in 1986; a daughter, Donna Jean Manning in 2015; and a grandson, Thomas Eugene Holman Jr., in 2005.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Locke and husband Larry, of Ladonia; four grandchildren, Tami and Scott Chappell, Tracy Holman, April and John Olmsted, and Carrie and Anthony White; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Justin Jones, David Locke, Clayton Olmsted, Andrue Holman, Josh Rhodes, and Ed Pickard.
