Betty Jane (Toon) Shirley 86, of Cooper, Texas passed away Monday September 29, 2025.

Funeral Services are scheduled Saturday October 4, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Delta Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Garden of Memories cemetery in Ben Franklin, Texas. Mark Shirley will officiate.

Betty was born in Enloe, Texas February 1, 1939, to Randall Ewing and Florence Almeta (Echols) Toon.

Betty married her sweetheart E.B. Shirley from Ben Franklin on July 4, 1957, in Cooper, Texas.

Betty graduated from Enloe High School and went on to earn her degree as a registered nurse from El Centro College.  She served in the labor and delivery unit at Baylor Hospital in Garland throughout her career. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She loved the Lord and strived to serve others with loving kindness as the Savior would. She also loved children and always had a soft place in her heart for an animal in need. Betty’s family meant the world to her. She believed that families truly are forever because of our Savior. Although she is greatly missed by her family we know that we will be reunited with her one day for the eternities.

Survivors include her children: Mark Shirley and wife Valerie of Texarkana, Texas, Susan Garrison and husband Randy of Rowlett, Texas, and David Shirley and wife Michaela of Rowlett, Texas, sixteen grandchildren, and thirty great – grandchildren.
