Betty Lane Southard, 82 of Sulphur Springs, Texas passed away Monday February 10, 2025.

Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 2 p.m. February 21, 2025, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m.

Betty was born in Paris, Texas, March 29, 1942, to Herbert A. and Mildred (McKee) Lane. She married Jim Southard on December 27, 1994, in Greenville, Texas. They preceded her in death.

Betty graduated from East Texas State University.  She retired from the Texas Department of Human Resources after 25 years of service.

Betty enjoyed Dancing, Traveling, Reading, playing games with her friends, and gathering with her former classmates. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas and a member of Women’s Guild.

Survivors include her sister Martha Box, nieces Dowanna Jaco and husband Charles, DeLane Click and husband David, nine great nieces and nephews, and extended family in New Mexico. She is also survived by her precious dog Dixie.
