Delphia Freda (McKinney) Smart

Delphia Freda McKinney Smart (98) passed away on January 19,2023 and will be laid to rest in a graveside service at East Delta Cemetery on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 2:00. Visitation will be one hour before.

Delphia Freda McKinney Smart was born on November 16,1924. She married Arthur Smart on February 8,1946. They have one daughter, Sharron.  Freda was a housewife, and they had a small cow-calf operation. During the war, she did her part working at the Curtis Candy Company in Dallas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great–grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Later in life she traveled with her family to practically all of the lower fifty states and Canada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her parents Alice Jewel Jopes McKinney and  Delt S. McKinney, and was the last of “the five McKinney sisters”- Imogene Love, Eva Pauline Greenwood, Joyce Graves, and Margaret Woodard.

She is survived by her loving daughter Sharron and David Nabors, granddaughter Jill and Tommy Hinton, grandson Jack and Julia Nabors, great-granddaughters Kally and Seth Williams, Chelsea and Canyon Conley, great-grandsons Timothy and DJ Nabors and Chris Worthy, and great-great granddaughter Cassadee Conley. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Delbert Jones, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She will be escorted to her final resting place by her family.

The family requests any memorials to the East-End Delta County Cemetery Association.
