Dorothy Hatem Obituary

Dorothy McGuyer Hatem, with family by her side, passed away on Monday September 26th at 100 years old. 

Dorothy was born in Charleston, Texas March 7th, 1922 to Pete McGuyer and Ruth Bowman. 

They have preceded her in death as well as her husband Fred Hatem, brother Ben McGuyer, and sister Sparky McGuyer.

Dorothy worked on the family farm in Oklahoma as the oldest of 5 children (3 girls 2 boys),near the Red River and graduated from Oklahoma A&M (Now Oklahoma State). During World War 2, she served her country by working for the marine corps recruitment in North Carolina, where she met the love of her life and husband Fred Hatem. After World War 2 she worked in Washington D.C., Dallas, and Houston as a legal assistant for Butler & Binion for 47 years. Dorothy and Fred had one son together, Michael Fredrick Hatem born in 1957.

Dorothy enjoyed watching the Houston Astros win, watching the New York Yankees lose, reading the Houston Chronicle, listening to classical music, cross stitching, and walked 3 miles every day after work. 

She loved attending church and went to St.Jerome's Church as a faithful Catholic for 50 years.  

Survivors include brother Bob McGuyer of Birmingham, Alabama, sister Linda Seal of Houston, Texas, son Michael Fredrick Hatem of Warsaw, Poland, and grand-son Michael Tu Hatem of Houston, Texas
