Dr. Torance Olen Vandygriff, 82, of Ben Franklin, Tx. passed away on August 27, 2024 in Cooper, Tx.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday August 31, 2024, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel, Reverend Stacy Smith will officiate, with interment to follow at Garden of Memories cemetery in Ben Franklin, Texas. Family will receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. Friday August 30, 2024, at Delta Funeral Home.
Torance was born in Cooper, Tx. on September 6, 1941 to Edna and George Vandygriff.

Torance attended school in Ben Franklin, Tx. and later to Cooper High School where he graduated.

Torance then attended Baylor University where he received his BA degree. Torance later attended Texas A&M
University, Commerce, Tx. where he received his Masters and PhD.
Torance began his career as an elementary teacher with the Dallas Independent School District and later as a principal at the elementary, middle school and high school level.

Torance retired after 34 years with the school district. He was a Masonic Lodge member 32nd Degree Mason, and also volunteered with several organizations in Delta County.
Torance moved back home to Ben Franklin, Tx. to his parents homeplace in 2011. He loved being back in the country and enjoyed nature, animals and the country way of life.

Torance Loved people and enjoyed being around his family and friends. Torance is survived by his Longtime partner, Ron Spear of the home, brother Loyd Vandygriff and wife Audrey of Ben Franklin, sister Brenda Jetton of Paris, Tx. sister Linda Hudnall and husband Lonnie of Poteau, Ok. and sister Letha Dee Siders of Watauga, Tx. Torance is also survived by his nephew Brian Rainey, nephew Rick Anderson, niece Wendy Gilbreath, niece Jennifer Peet and numerous great nieces and nephews.
