Mrs. Edna Good of Commerce, formerly of Delta County passed away Friday April 6, 2012 at Oak Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Commerce Church of Christ with David Gibson officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cooper.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Barton Good, her parents, James and Pearl Lancaster, a brother, James Lancaster, sisters, Lola Holcomb, Mary Meachum, Katherine Fergerson, and Tommy Webb and a grandson, Jay Barton Sencer.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Good of Cherokee, N.C., Sara Bills (Larry) of Montgomery, Alabama, Mary Smith (Pete) of Commerce, six grandchildren, Timothy Spencer (Judy)of Russellville, Arkansas, Jeannie Alexander (Tom) of Memphis, Tennessee, Robin Miyakawa (Tom)of Indianapolis, Indiana, Derek Lambert (Rhonda) of Heath, Texas, Kimberly Webber (Joe) of Memhis, Amanda Seesengood of Montgomery, Alabama, fifteen great grandchildren, Sisters Bobbid Ruth Dunn of Duncanville and Evelyn Chapman of Winnsboro, and sister in law Yindra Good of Cooper.
Edna was a longtime faithful member of the Commerce Church of Christ, where husband, Barton was an elder. For many years they worked side by side in the oil business, first in Cooper (Mobil Oil Agent) and later in Commerce (Barton Good Oil Company, where Edna served as bookkeeper. Upon retirement in 1976, the couple became full-time RV travelers for more that 10 years, caravanning with friends to see much of the country.
The Goods enjoyed another 10 years together in several residences in Commerce before Barton's death in 1997. Edna resided for 12 years at Country Home Estates before a final move to Oak Manor Nursing Home. Edna's daughters wish to thank all of the nurses and aides at Oak Manor for their loving care of Edna these past three years and a special thank you to Dr. Rick Selvaggi for his many doctor visits and words of comfort. Edna always enjoyed seeing Dr. Rick.
Pall Bearers are Leon Summerlin, Joe Davis, Arlen Purdy, Joe Combs, Benny Herman and Mike Anderson. Memorials may be made to the Commerce Church of Christ, 1600 Culver Street.
