Mrs. Elise (Strong) Holmes Robertson passed away Wednesday, January 2 at Birchwood Manor. Funeral services will be held at 11:0 AM Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Witherspoon officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Elise was born February 24, 1916 in Delta County. She was the daughter of Luther Strong and Katie Toon Strong. She married Joe Holmes who preceded her in death January 21, 1974. She later married Dudley Robertson who preceded her in death on May 2, 1995. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Peggy Jo Holmes and daughter Brenda O'Brien who passed away February 7, 2012, two brothers; Floyd Strong and Clyde Jr. Toon, three sisters; Thelma Howse, Ina Blount, and Bonnie Lane and by a daughter in law, Joy Holmes and son in laws Doc Manes and Buck O'Brien.
She is survived by a son; Jerry Holmes of Cooper, a sister Juanita Owens and her husband Clyde of Coper, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Birchwood Manor Nursing Home and all the staff, Dr. Selvaggi, Odyssey Hospice, especially Rachel Baggs and longtime friend Diane Bosscher.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
