Mr. Emil Walter Sonntag II of Cooper passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 in Tyler. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 17 at the Delta Funeral Chapel. Rev. Gary Regan will officiate with interment following in the Restlawn Cemetery in Hopkins County.
Mr. Sonntag was born September 25, 1947 in Collin County. He was the son of Thomas Marvin Sonntag and Edna Marie Calhoun Sonntag. On June 9, 1973 he married Susan Benson who survives. He was a member of the Elm Ridge Baptist Church in Como and had been a resident of Cooper the past nine years, moving here from Como.
Survivors are wife; Susan Sonntag of Cooper, son Kip Sonntag and wife Callie of Cooper, brothers Paul Sonntag and wife Faye of Tyler and Marlin Sonntag and his wife Martha of Desoto, a sister Anita Young and her husband Gary of Sulphur Bluff. He was also survived by three grandchildren, Chani,Kelei, and Baler Sonntag. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son Kerry Scott Sonntag.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, July 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Delta Funeral Home.
