Fay Lancaster Obituary

Fay "Mur" Lancaster, 100 years, and 10 months old, a longtime resident of Cooper, Texas was born April 1, 1922, in Carthage, Texas and passed away, February 20, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.

Services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday February 25, 2023, in the Delta Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Johnny Witherspoon will officiate, with interment to follow at Oaklawn cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Delta Funeral Home.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Sammy Lancaster, Tony Lancaster, Gary Glossup, Dwayne Glossup, Brad Lancaster, and Preston Jones.

A friend set Fay and Lod Lancaster up on a blind date and three months later they got married on May 17, 1941. They had four children and celebrated fifty-three amazing years together before Lod passed away in 1994.

Fay was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and great great great grandmother and she taught us that the Lord, love, and family are the most important things. She loved music, dancing (in her younger years and still would have, if her legs would’ve allowed) and traveling with her family making memories to last a lifetime. She laughed every chance she could and after laughing she always said “I’ve had my medicine today” because as the old saying goes, laughter is the best medicine. She was sassy (lively, bold and full of spirit) when she was younger, and that description held true for her entire life. She loved unconditionally and was loved by so many in return. Legacy is not leaving something for people, it’s leaving something in people and that she did.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Ruby (Cathey) Brewster, husband Lod Lancaster, daughter Jimmie Dawn Lancaster, granddaughter Regina Glossup Meadows, son in law Weldon Welch and great great grandson Blaine Riley.

Survivors include daughter, Karen Welch, sons Sammy Lancaster, and wife Vera, Tony Lancaster, and wife Truetta, grandchildren Leah Welch, Sharee Welch, Gary Glossup, Dwayne Glossup, Danny Glossup, Donna Wilkerson, and Brad Lancaster, twenty-five great grandchildren, thirty great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild.
