Francis Ophelia Preston Banks passed away August 30, 2025 at the age of 99.

A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Oaklawn Cemetery, County Road 1030, Cooper, Texas 75432 with Noel Bailey officiating.

Ophelia was born on July 9, 1926, to Thomas Jefferson Preston and Mary Hagood Preston.  She was the ninth of twelve children.  Her brothers included, Robert, Ted, BG, George, Jack, Bill, Harmon Lee, William and sisters, Lillie Pearl, Mary, and Christine Preston. Ophelia married Willie Ray Banks in August 18,1945, and they celebrated 58 years of marriage. They had two sons, Ray Banks Jr. and Mike Banks. Ophelia was preceded in death by Ray Banks, Sr. who died in 2003, Mike Banks who died in 2007, and Ray Banks, Jr. who died in 2023.

Ray and Ophelia opened Banks Furniture store in 1952 and operated it in Cooper, Texas for over 50 years. Ophelia was a member of Cooper Church of Christ.

Ophelia loved to garden and was awarded a lifetime membership to the Cooper Garden Club.  Ophelia was a Hospice Volunteer and received the St. Joseph Healthcare Award for completion of the Ella McFadden Hospice Program.  The Golden Achievement to the Delta County unit was awarded to Ophelia for achieving an all-time high in crusade income, and she exceeded per capita goal in the Texas division.  Ophelia received a certificate from Paris Regional Health, formerly PRMC, recognizing her as a dedicated volunteer completing 387 hours of volunteer service.  Also, Ophelia was awarded a certificate for completing all the requirements of Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Ophelia is survived by her brother, George Preston, daughter in-law, Sue Banks, grandsons David Banks and Jason Banks, 6 great grandchildren, and 6 nieces and nephews.
