Garlon McClain Harvey, born to Garlon, Sr., and Jo McClain Harvey on May 10, 1944, in Cooper, Texas, passed away on January 29, 2024.

Garlon was a grandson of Grover and Mabel McClain of Cooper, Texas.

In his younger days, Garlon was a published writer and was an avid fan of music and cinema. He spoke often of the early days he fell in love with the silver screen at Sparks Theater in Cooper where, when he could, he’d spend all day watching movie after movie.

Garlon graduated from Cooper High School in Cooper, Texas and later attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. After living in Honolulu, Hawaii with his wife and first daughter, then moving back to Sulphur Springs, Texas for a short while, the family ultimately settled in Tyler, Texas where his three daughters were raised, and he retired from many years of accounting service at Tyler Pipe.

He is preceded in death by Garlon Harvey, Sr. and Jo McClain, his parents; his beloved cousin, who was like a sister to him, Jackie Bergman. He is survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Linda Edwards; his daughter Kelley Walker; his daughter and son-in-law Craig and Tracey Williams; his daughter Holley Stiefer; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many friends, several of whom were his classmates in Cooper, Texas.

Honoring Garlon as pallbearers are Craig Williams, Reid Williams, Ryan Kramer, Joseph Uland, Roger Pippin, and Logan Johnson.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel in Cooper, Texas followed by interment at Oaklawn cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his mother and grandparents.
