Genell Conley Ham, age 89, of Cooper, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 21, 1937, in Cooper, Texas, to Noel and Willie Conley.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11a.m. Tuesday June 2, 2026, at First Baptist Church Cooper, Texas. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Reverend Johnny Witherspoon and Perry Johnson will officiate. Private interment to follow.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Joe Shaw, Jacob Toon, Bill Choate, Craig Ham, Josh Neill, and Ethan Chambers.
Genell was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Jearl Ham; her sisters, Billy Clark, Twila Foster and Patsy Shaw; and her brother, Larry Conley.
She is survived by her two sons, Marc Ham and wife Mindy Ham, and Kevin Ham and wife Kay Ham. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Erin Neill and Jacqueline Chambers, and her greatest joy in recent years was being “Gran” to her precious great-grandchildren, Graham Neill, Conley Neill, and Oakley Chambers.
She is also survived by her sisters, Sue Horchem, Gretchen Bills, Mickie Smith, Vickie Anderson, Debbie Nelson, and Beckie Alvarez; her brother, Steve Conley; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and the countless people whose lives she touched through the years.
Genell devoted her life first and foremost to raising and caring for her two boys, whom she loved deeply. She also worked for Dutch’s Gas Services in Cooper before later beginning a career at First National Bank, where she faithfully worked until retirement.
A lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Cooper, Genell was one of its longest-tenured members. Her faith was steady and evident in the way she treated others every day of her life.
Genell was known as a tender-hearted, thoughtful, and caring woman. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved. To know her was to know kindness, faithfulness, and compassion. She never seemed to have an enemy and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her family was the center of her world, and in the last decade of her life, nothing brought her greater happiness than her granddaughters and great-grandbabies. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, caring, faithfulness, and devotion to family and friends that will continue for generations to come.
