Helen Jo Gunter Obituary

Helen Jo Gunter, 88, of Cooper, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in Cooper Church of Christ. Noel Bailey and Shane Carrington will be officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of the Delta Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gunter was born in Unitia, TX on March 3, 1924, the daughter of Albert Cameron Toon and Annie Amelia Wilkinson Toon. She married W.B. Gunter on January 7, 1945 and he preceded her in death on April 15, 1980. Mrs. Gunter had worked several years as a telephone operator, and had also helped Mr. Gunter in the jewelry store. She was a lifelong resident of Delta County, and was a member of the Cooper Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Sherwood Toon, and two sisters: Edith Echols and Mary Smart.
She is survived by two daughters: Barbara Cockrum of Birthright and Debra Wood of Tira, three grandchildren: Stephanie Kennedy & husband John of Denton, Heather Williams & husband Jeff of Sulphur Springs, and Brad Wood & wife KayLee of Sulphur Springs, and eleven great grandchildren.
