Irma Welch Obituary

Irma C. Welch, 85 of Cooper, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday July 30, 2021.

Irma was born in La Palma, Arizona April 26, 1936, to Clifford and Mildred Cooper. Irma’s parents and sister Janice Golladay preceded her in death.

Irma married Robert Dale Welch on July 20, 1952, in Elk Grove California. Irma was a housewife and mother while working in various administrative jobs while Robert Dale was in the US Air Force for 22years. The family enjoyed living in many different states during Robert Dale’s military career from Alaska to Florida, and overseas in Turkey. When Robert Dale retired from the Air Force they settled on a ranch near Winslow, AR, before retiring in Prairie Grove, AR. Robert Dale passed away in 2001.

Irma was known for her “green thumb”, flower gardening and canning vegetables from the family’s vegetable gardens wherever they lived. Irma also enjoyed making beautiful wedding cakes for family and friends for many years. Her favorite activity later in life was dancing (polka, swing, country). She could be found 2-3 times each week anywhere there was live music and willing dance partners.

Survivors include a daughter Katherine Pameticky of Springdale, AR, and sons Robert Welch Jr. and wife Maxine of Cooper, TX, and Bill Welch and wife Debbie of Milford, PA.

Irma’s grandchildren include John & Jason Sargent, William, Robert, and Chris Welch, Stacey and “grandson-in- law” Rob Fuchs, Daryl Pameticky, and Marissa Welch. Her great grandchildren include Sierra, John, Michael, and Mathew Sargent, and Dayleth, Nyah, and Asher Fuchs.
