James Vernon Roberts of Paris passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 in Paris.
Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Ladonia with Rev. Ronnie Steward officiating. Interment will follow in the Providence Cemetery in the Bartley-Woods Community.
Mr. Roberts was born March 30, 1923 in Snyder, Texas. He was the son of James Arthur Roberts and Minnie Lee Issac Roberts. He grew up in the Ladonia area.He served in the United States Army Air Corps in World II serving in the 94th Bomb Group in the 32nd Bomb Squadron. He worked for Campbell soup in Paris until his retirement.
He is survived by sons Vernon Roberts and Mary Jane of Sumner, Tommy Roberts and Dorothy of Ft. Worth, daughters Rita Kay Story and Lonnie of Paris, and Phyliss Robinson and Roy of Bonham, step-son Gary Baxley, and step-daughter Mary Sue Baxley. He is survived by two brothers; A.J. and Bob Roberts and step brother R.D. Scarborough, sisters; Hazel, Evelyn and Patsy and step sisters Betty Rittenberry and Peggy; eleven grandchildren 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Linda Baxley; sister Ruthie Bea Bearden, three brothers; Rupert, J.C.and Jack Roberts and step brother Leo Scarborough.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Delta Funeral Home, Ladonia.
