Jerry Vance Holmes, 82, of Cooper, Texas passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at the Delta Funeral Home Chapel in Cooper, Texas with Chaplain Tommy Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Delta Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Jones, Jeff Jones, Jason Jones, William Holmes, Mike Howse and James Jeffcoat. Honorary Pallbearers will be Trey Jones, Kaden Malone and Tylor Jones.

Jerry was born in Cooper, Texas on July 17, 1938 to Joe and Elise “Strong” Holmes. They have preceded him in death as well as his wife, Joy Holmes and sister, Brenda O’Brien. He retired in 2003 after 38 years with Sprint Telephone Co. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and would tell you Joy was the better fisherman. He also enjoyed drinking coffee and telling tall tales with friends.

Survivors include his daughters, Jackie Jones and husband, Troy, of Cooper, Texas; Jan Funderburgh of Tyler, Texas and Jerri Lynn Holmes of Dallas, Texas; 4 Grandchildren: Daniel Jones, Jeff Jones and Renea Cook, Jason Jones and wife, Kris, Amy Parker and husband, Jody; 9 Great Grandchildren and 3 Nieces.
