Mrs. Jo Ann Lawson, 66 years of age of Cooper passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Birchwood Manor Nursing Home in Cooper.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 18 at the Delta Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Michael Stone will officiate with interment following in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Jo Ann was born January 24, 1946 at Fort Towson, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Elmer Ray Shirley and Claudia Faye (Barnes) Shirley. She married Mr. Jimmy Dee Lawson October 7, 1961. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2011. She had been a longtime resident of Delta County, and had retired from We Pack Logistics.
She was survived by a son; James Dean Lawson of Como, daughters; Dee Ann Lawson, Debbie Early, and Donna Jo Chancellor of Cooper, and brother; Elmer "Bill" Shirley of Cooper, fourteen grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers; Travis and Charlie Shirley, sisters Willie Mae Scarberry, Rachel Brumley, Neoma Archey, and Nettie Faye Cooper and by three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Funeral Home.
