Joseph Bentley Preas “Jody” 84 of Cooper, Texas passed away in his home Thursday March 6, 2025.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed greatly. He lost the battle with a long illness. He was attended lovingly by his wife and three daughters as well as Waterford Hospice and his granddaughter.
Jody was a graduate of Cooper High School in 1960. He was a successful cattle rancher and did excellent dirt work with his bulldozer, bailing hay was a necessary job that he seemed to enjoy.
Jody was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church Cooper. He was a faithful Deacon and loved very much by the congregation, and by the Lord. He felt that serving God was a great blessing.
He was an avid outdoorsman, providing Elk, deer, hog and fish for the table. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending his cattle at Kensing, but most of all he enjoyed precious time with his family, watching grandkids and great grand kids play ball.
Jody was preceded in death by his mother and father Calvin and Lutie Preas of Cooper.
He is survived by his wife Linda Wright Preas, three daughters Beverly Jo Sloan, Andrea Preas, Nocona Clark, five grandchildren, Joseph Preas, Kyle Thompson, Wade Thompson, Eric Clark, Elli Hayes. He was proud of his nine great grandchildren as well who are: Canter Preas, Brayden Morris, Hannah and Kaden Thompson, Abigail Carter and Amelia Thompson, Ryder Clark, Zoey Hayes, Carter Hayes.
Visitation will be held Saturday March 8, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at Delta Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday March 9, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church Cooper interment to follow services at Hickory Grove cemetery.
