Joy Elaine Richey Conley, age 91, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 31, 2025. She was born on February 16, 1934, in Hopkins County to Clarence and Alice Richey.
Joy graduated from North Hopkins High School, where she proudly served as salutatorian of the Class of 1952. Following graduation, she began her career as a telephone operator with Gulf States Telephone Company. She later married Alfred Conley on June 13, 1953, and they shared 43 years of marriage.
Joy devoted 30 years of service to Fannindel Independent School District in Ladonia, Texas, where she worked as a librarian aide until her retirement in 1997. During her time at Fannindel, she was an active member of the Ladonia Young Homemakers, a role she greatly enjoyed. She was a faithful member of the Ladonia Church of Christ and also belonged to the Fannin County Retired Teachers Association.
Joy loved traveling with her cousin, Myra Jean, especially trips to Branson, Missouri, where she delighted in live music performances and quick visits to the casino. She also cherished family ski trips to Colorado. Above all, Joy loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events whenever she had the opportunity.
Family was the center of Joy’s life. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were truly her pride and joy.
Joy is survived by her sons, Randy Conley and wife Mindy, and Mark Conley and wife Linda; grandchildren Cody Conley, Colt Conley and wife Bailey, Canyon Conley and wife Chelsea, Carley Price and husband Blair, Lance Conley, and Brook Pumphrey and husband Jacob; great-grandchildren Caylee Conley, Case Conley, Cayden Conley, Paisley Fowler, Cainey Conley, Devin Conley, Cassadee Conley, Caroline Conley, Cohen Price, and Piper Pumphrey; sister-in-law Norma Ruth Cunningham; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
