Mrs. Joyce (Johnson) Floyd, 73 years of age of Cooper passed away Monday morning, January 7, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 10 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Cooper with Rev. Henry Suche, Rev. Doug Wintermute and Rev. Steve Cook officiating.
Mrs. Floyd was born April 19, 1939 in Hopkins County. She was the daughter of Ben Leighton Johnson and Ella Cope Johnson. She married Mr. Davis Floyd on May 29, 1960. He preceded her in death October 24, 1990. She had been a school teacher at Cooper High School for many years. She was a member of the Junior Afflatus Club, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cooper.
She is surived by two sons; Damon Floyd of Athens and Brad Floyd of Mt. Vernon, a brother Bill Johnson of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, a sister Janet Johnson of Sulphur Springs, and five grandchildren; Blace Floyd, Payne Floyd, Emily Floyd, Bailey Floyd and Jack Floyd.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
