Kent Charles Cregg, 85, died the 18th day of March, 2012 of natural causes at Tomball, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Commerce, Texas with the Reverend Mary Alice Lyman officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper, Texas. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until service time Saturday, March 24. Mr. Cregg was the son of the late Charles Elmo Cregg and Myrtle Patterson Cregg. He was born February 1, 1927, in Enloe, Texas. He graduated from Enloe High School in 1944, and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
After the War he graduated from Texas A&M University, Commerce, Texas and from Oklahoma City University in 1960 with a degree in Geology.
June 17, 1950 he and Mary Ann Allen of Cooper Texas were married in Cooper, Texas. His career in the Oil Industry took him to Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Louisiana.
After his retirement from Getty-Texaco Oil Company in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1985 he made his home in Commerce, Texas together with his loving wife, Mary who passed away on February 16 of 2003. While in Commerce Kent was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Alumni Association of Texas A&M University, Commerce.
Surviving are his two sons, Allen Kent and wife, Leesa Suddath Cregg of Houston, Jeffrey Charles and his wife, Tammy Richardson Cregg of Houston, and four grandchildren, James Allen and David Robert Cregg and Claire Alexandra and Kerry Elise Cregg of Houston. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary and Parents Myrtle and Elmo Cregg, and a sister, Betty Zoe Cregg Baker.
