Martha "Marti" Young Moser Obituary

Martha “Marti” Young Moser was born on April 23, 1964. She left this earth on May 3, 2025, when her Savior, Jehovah Rapha, healed her and turned the darkness of cancer into the light of Heaven.

Funeral Services are scheduled for10 a.m. Friday May 16, 2025, at First Baptist Church Dallas Pastor John Cullen will officiate.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Matthew Moser, John Melvin, Mac Pitts, Gary Rutledge, and Lee Russell, and John McMullen.

Her parents were Zifton H. Young Jr. and Rebecca Tune Young. She was born at Baylor Hospital and spent parts of her childhood here in Dallas as well as in Atlanta, Georgia, and California. She had one younger brother, Mitchell, who passed away in 2017. She graduated from high school in 1982 as salutatorian from Faith Christian Academy in Missouri. She attended Baylor University for two years, transferring to UT Arlington.

She was an active participant in the Precepts class where she met Keith Moser. They married in June of 1988. She was proud mother of her five children Katie, Kara, Kristen, Kimberly, and Matthew. Matthew and his wife Jacqui gave Marti her grandchild, Avia, on June 12, 2024.

Marti received two art degrees from UT Arlington and began to teach art for the Dallas Independent School District in August of 2014. Her colleagues and students at Maria Moreno Elementary enjoyed her warm smile, laughter, and the excitement she brought to her school.

Marti became part of the choir at First Baptist Dallas in 2011. She had a wonderful, strong alto voice and loved to sing. Now her Savior has put a new song in her heart.

Marti loved the outdoors. She and her best friend, Connie Austin, spent many happy hours hiking the trails at the Trinity River Audubon Center in Dallas. She and her children and Connie enjoyed two great camping trips in Oklahoma and Texas before illness compromised her strength.

Marti was so proud of her children. Her father, Ziff, was a WW II Air Force pilot, and when you first met Marti, she always told you that her four daughters were all military. Three are now veterans: Katie, Kara, and Kimberly, and Captain Kristen Moser is still serving in the Army. Marti rejoiced in her son who, like her father, is a dedicated husband and father. She was so happy when Matt’s and Jacqui’s daughter, Avia, was born.

Martha is survived by her children: Katherine (Katie) Moser, Kara and husband, Demetrius Kennon; Kristen and husband, Patrick Melvin; Kimberly Moser, and Matthew and wife, Jacqueline Gonzalez and their daughter Avia.
