Mrs. Mattie Burgess of Cooper passed away Saturday April 28, 2012 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper. Rev. Rodney Sprayberry will officiate.
Mrs. Burgess was born April 12,1928 in Liberty Grove, (Delta County) Texas.
She was the daughter of Asa Lester Starkey and Minnie Jewel Cathey. She married Mr. Woodrow Burgess who preceded her in death. She had spent 15 years in Kansas City, Missouri then moved back to Delta County. She was a cosmetologist.
She is survived by two sons; Bobby Hutchens of Dallas and James Mining of Colleyville and by a daughter; Carolyn Brewer of Cooper. She was survived by her brother Lester Starkey, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister Jeanette Trammell.
