Rama Lou “Billie” Williams Hicks A celebration of Life service will be held for Billie Hicks, 99, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel Saturday July 27, 2024, at 1p.m. with Pastor Henry Suche, Visitation is one hour prior to service, Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Billie died July 22, 2024, at her residence in Sulphur Springs, Texas, she was born in Delta County Texas April 12, 1925, to Frank and Ollie Nimmo. She married Bruce Lynn Williams on August 24, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1981. She married Rayburn Dennis Hicks on May 13, 1985, in Cooper Texas. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2005.
Billie was a devoted wife and mother to her children Rocky Williams and Vickie Williams; She and Bruce raised their family in Lake Creek Texas until his passing in 1981. She worked for Munsingwear, Inc. during those years and helped Bruce on the farm in Vasco, Texas. She and Bruce also owned Billie’s Grocery in Lake Creek where she enjoyed serving her friends, neighbors, and the surrounding community.
After Bruce’s death, she went to work as the Chi Omega house mother at ETSU. She loved her sorority girls and was always the life of any party. She met her second husband Dennis during this time and they were avid golfers and longtime members of the Delta Country Club. She was a fierce competitor who shot from the men’s tees and would always have a story to tell (Especially of her hole in one).
After Dennis’s death, she moved to Sulphur Springs with her daughter Vickie where she lived out the remainder of her years.
Billie had placed her faith in the finished work of Christ and had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Creek and the First United Methodist Church of Cooper. She was a loving, positive person who loved life and loved her family unconditionally. She will be deeply missed.
Billie is survived by her daughter Vickie Williams of Sulphur Springs, Texas and her son Rocky Williams and wife Hilda of Paris, Texas, her grandchildren Ken Williams – Kale and spouse Jim of Longview and Nikki Sadler and husband Brad of Corsicana her great grandchildren Courtney Sain and husband Chase of Bossier City, Cody Coursey and wife Alisha of Paris, Callie Haynie and husband Jack of Paris, Shae Williams , Courtney Kale, and Caitlyn Kale of Longview and Jeffery Goldsmith of Sulphur Springs. Her great - great grandchildren Jackson, Jager, and Jude Sain, Braydin and Beckham Coursey, Brielle, Addison and Olsen Haynie and Presley Johnson. She is also survived by her brother Charles Nimmo of Bonham as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Early, Jeter, and Harry Nimmo, her sister Mary Jackson, and Her daughter – in – law Becky Williams.
