Sandra Lee Watkins

Sandra Lee Toon Watkins, age 77, of Cooper, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020.

A come and go visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Delta Funeral Home from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, November 20, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Cooper, Texas with Rev. David Turner and Rev. Doug Wintermute officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Cohen Watkins, Brayden Watkins, Austin Darden, Travis Darden, Jake Smith, and Thomas Darden.

Sandra was born on November 30, 1942 in Cooper, Texas to Sherwood and Lucille “Fletcher” Toon. She lived in Delta County all of her life. Sandra was a 1961 graduate of Cooper High School. Sandra and Johnny Watkins were married on November 4, 1961 in Cooper, Texas.

Sandra graduated from East Texas State University and was an educator for 25 years at Cooper ISD and Sulphur Bluff ISD. She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Cooper. Sandra was a member of the Enloe Hobby Club and Junior Afflatus. She enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends, and loved her plants and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherwood and Lucille “Fletcher” Toon and her sister Bonnie Johnston.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Johnny Gaylon Watkins of Cooper, her daughter Rachel and husband Thomas Darden of Cooper, Texas, son John and wife Courtney of Cooper; five grandchildren: Austin Darden of Fate, Texas, Sarah (Darden) and husband Jake Smith of Humble, Texas, Travis Darden of Cooper, Brayden Watkins of Cooper, and Cohen Watkins of Cooper. Also, a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delta County Library, 300 W. Dallas Ave, Cooper, Texas.
