Mr. Spence Kent Gates Jr. of Grand Prarie passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 in Arlington.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 7th at the East Delta Cemetery. Rev. Michael Stone will officiate.
Mr. Gates was born September 7, 1943 in Dallas. He was the son of Spence Kent Gates Sr. and Rosalee Gates. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. On November 30, 1970 he married Mary Edna McFarland. He had been a lifetime resident of Grand Prairie.
Survivors are his wife; Mary Gates of Grand Prairie, sons Timothy and his family of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Todd and his family of Branson, Missouri, Dean and his family of Burleson, and Spence III and his family of Grand Prarie, and daughters Yvette Wheeler and family of Flippen, Arkansas and Yvonne Rimmer and family of Murfreesboro,Tn. and a brother Jack Gates of Mabank. There were 21 Grandchildren and 14 great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Joy and his daughter Dianne.
The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10:30 until 12:30.
