Weldon Alford Welch, age 78, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
Weldon was born on April 9, 1942 in Ben Franklin, Texas to Olin and Lura “Wood” Welch. They have preceded him in death, as well as two brothers, Earl and James, and a sister, Darlene. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen; daughter, Leah Welch Glaze and husband, Rodney and daughter Sharee Welch. Four grandchildren: Ashlee McRae, Whitni McRae, Kalyn Jones and Preston Jones. One great grandchild: Carson Cauley, sister: Ruth Ives, mother-in-law: Fay Lancaster, brother and sister-in-law’s: Sammy and Vera Lancaster and Tony and Truetta Lancaster.
Weldon married the love of his life, Karen Lancaster on June 9, 1963 in Antioch, Texas and they enjoyed 57 years together. Weldon was a life long mechanic who truly loved what he did. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Weldon always thought of his brother and sister-in-law’s as if they were his own brothers and sisters and he loved to travel with them when his health was still able to allow and he also considered his mother-in-law as his second mom. Weldon was a man of few words, but there was no doubt that he loved his family.
Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00pm Sunday September 27, 2020 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper, Texas with Brother Johnny Witherspoon officiating.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Lancaster, Tony Lancaster, Preston Jones, Skipper Johnson, Jeff Collard and Marcus Powell.
